Singer Sky Ferreira is not your average Playboy bunny of yesteryears- for one, she does not appear naked. The magazine stopped featuring full nudity last year October. Ferreira is making headlines for the mag’s ‘Renegade’ October issue as the first Playboy bunny to have creative control over her images as well as directing the photography for the shoot.
Hi. I am on the cover of Playboy (October 2016). I am the first bunny ever to be a creative collaborator & creative/art direct. I produced & directed all of the content. It is the first introduction to #Masochism (visually). My best friend @sandycandykim shot the photos & Bruce Dern did the interview. I will get much more into detail about the project & all of the people involved tomorrow when I unveil the covers! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐰🐰🐰🐰 BTS (it isn't edited or retouched) PHOTO BY SANDY!
Sky was photographed by her friend, Sandy Kim, and interviewed by actor Bruce Dern.
@playboy cover #2: We were at a drive in theater (where one of my videos in the near future will be set) & always wanted to use. The whole shoot was originally based on this drive in.It was also based on @davidlynchfoundation's Blue Velvet. We were listening to Suicide & headlights/dust/wind were strong. Kinda emotional TBH #RIPAlanVega
It is great to see such raw, and female-directed images, that are done from the individual’s creative vision, and within the individual’s control. It is indeed rare to see photos of a nude woman, under her own direction, and that are not driven by the mainstream defined comfortable image of female sexuality. Even more so,the photos are unretouched and unedited, a trend fast gaining momentum among famous females.
The images have received praise, due to their empowering nature:
